MIAMI, Nov. 30 (Ticker) -- After the Miami Heat got the stops, Donyell Marshall and the Toronto Raptors got the rebounds.

Marshall had two crucial follow shots and Jalen Rose turned an offensive rebound into the winning free throws as the Raptors survived a big game by Shaquille O'Neal for a 94-92 victory over the Heat.

It was a good sign for the Raptors, who picked up just their second road win of the season as they began a six-game trip. Toronto had lost six of its last seven meetings with Miami.

"You have to try to win early on a road trip, especially on a six-game road trip," Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said. "Even if we had lost tonight, our guys played hard and they defended. If we do that, we're going to win a lot of games."

The Raptors never trailed in the fourth quarter but were tied twice, the last time at 92-92 with 38 seconds remaining after Dwyane Wade made a 3-pointer and jumper on consecutive possessions.

Marshall, who had 16 points and five of his eight rebounds on the offensive end, launched a 3-pointer that bounced toward the left corner. Rose ran it down and was run into by Eddie Jones with 15 seconds to go.

"I knew Donyell was going to shoot the three," Rose said. "First I started to go towards the middle to get the rebound, then I decided to just stay on this low baseline. Shaq was in the middle and if it went that way he was going to get it anyway. It came right to me."

After Rose sank the free throws, the Heat had a chance to tie, but Wade was forced to give up the ball to Damon Jones, whose 3-pointer was partially blocked. Wade ran down the loose ball but also missed a 3-pointer.

"I had the ball in my hands but I didn't get as good a look as I wanted to," said Wade, who missed an open O'Neal after an initial pick-and-roll. "Still, I thought it was going in and when it missed I was shocked."

The Raptors had seen a six-point lead dwindle to 88-87 when Marshall tipped in a miss by Vince Carter and put home a missed 3-pointer by Rose for a 92-87 edge with 1:18 to go.

"I was just trying to stay with it," said Marshall. "I knew I could get to the basket and tip it in. I think I've been doing a good job of reading their guys inside. I just stayed around the basket."

Rose scored 24 points to pick up the slack for Carter, who managed just five. Toronto, which has a small team, was outrebounded, 49-42, but made the most of its 13 offensive boards, scoring 14 second-chance points.

The Heat failed to get the rebounds they desperately needed down the stretch.

"Three times we don't get rebounds, including the last one," Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said. "It's inexcusable where we don't go to get the ball with the game on the line."

O'Neal had a season-high 34 points and 17 rebounds and Wade scored 22 points for the Heat, which has lost two of three and begins a four-game trip.

"It was obvious we didn't do what we were supposed to do," O'Neal said. "We're supposed to beat that team every time. It's all about what the team does. I could care less what I do. If we don't win none of that (stuff) matters."

The Raptors led at all the stops, including 68-65 entering the final quarter. A follow shot by Marshall widened it to 76-71 with 8:50 to play.

A 3-pointer by Wesley Person and a follow shot by O'Neal pulled the Heat into an 82-82 tie with 3:50 to go. But former Heat Rafer Alston made a 3-pointer and Rose added a three-point play.
